The details
What this resolver does
A direct URL is a link that ends at a media file rather than an HTML page. Fetchora sends a HEAD request and, if the server blocks HEAD, a one-byte Range request. It accepts the result only when the response is a real audio, video, or image type.
This path works on the Cloudflare Free plan without yt-dlp. It is ideal for files on a public CDN, a personal server, or a platform that publishes a stable media URL. Downloads are streamed through a signed, expiring Fetchora link and are never written to storage.
Direct does not mean unlimited. Servers can require a referer, expire a URL, or reject Cloudflare's egress. Fetchora reports those failures and does not substitute a different file. HLS and DASH manifests are detected separately and are not advertised as finished videos.
Actual outputs
Formats you may see
Availability is decided per link. This table describes the source's possible outputs, not a promise for every URL.
MP4 / WebM / MOV
Verified from the response content type or a known URL extension.
MP3 / M4A / WAV / OGG
Direct audio files with the original extension preserved.
JPEG / PNG / WebP / AVIF
Public images streamed as an attachment, never rendered as active SVG.
GIF
Animated images are preserved rather than converted implicitly.
HLS / DASH
Detected and explained; a manifest is not called a complete video.
Step by step
How to use it
1
Copy the public link
Open the post in a browser and copy its URL. Do not use a screenshot or a private share payload.
2
Paste it above
Fetchora detects the provider from the host and path, then validates the destination before fetching.
3
Pick a verified format
Choose by resolution, type, codec, and size. Video-only streams are labelled. A format appears only after a real upstream response.
4
Download or process locally
The file streams through a signed link. For codec changes or merging, use the toolkit on files already on your device.
Known limits
What this page will not do
Only HTTP and HTTPS on standard ports 80 and 443 are accepted.
Private, loopback, reserved, and metadata network addresses are blocked.
Links that require cookies, authorization headers, or signed browser sessions may fail.
Non-standard ports and IP-literal destinations are rejected by design.
Troubleshooting
Direct media downloader FAQ
How do I know the URL is direct?
It usually ends in a media extension and opens as a file, not as a page with a player. Fetchora still verifies the Content-Type rather than trusting the extension.
Are large files stored on Fetchora?
No. The Worker streams the upstream response to your browser. Fetchora has no media storage bucket, database, or disk copy of the file.
Why did my direct URL fail?
The host may block automated requests, require a referer, expire the URL, use a non-standard port, or return an HTML error page. Fetchora only offers downloads after a media probe succeeds.
